Fausto Ferraiuolo Born in Naples,

Fausto Ferraiuolo is a pianist, composer and performing musician. He graduated with highest honors in Jazz Piano from the Conservatory of Alessandria, Italy.
He further explored the tradition of jazz piano in New York and Rome, studying with Barry Harris, and in 2010 he obtained an International Master’s Degree in Jazz from Siena Jazz (InJam).

Throughout his training, he studied with Enrico Pieranunzi, attended advanced courses with John Taylor and George Cables, and studied ensemble playing with Paul Jeffrey and Benny Golson.Since 1989, he has been performing with his own trio, developing an extensive concert career in Italy and abroad and recording numerous albums, including The Secret of the Moon, Guajon, Blue and Green, Changing Walking, Artam/Mantra, Ponts Suspendus, Il dono and Disubbidire sempre.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with leading figures of Italian and international jazz, including Tony Scott, Elliot Zigmund, Paolo Fresu, Maurizio Giammarco, Massimo Urbani, Marc Abrams, Fabrizio Sferra, Pietro Condorelli, Daniele Scannapieco, Attilio Zanchi, Daniele Sepe, Piero Leveratto, Alfred Kramer, Bobby Durham, Gianni Cazzola, Pietro Iodice, Tino Tracanna and Marco Tamburini.

Alongside his jazz career, Ferraiuolo has developed an extensive body of work as a composer for film and theatre. In 1992 he began composing music for cinema, collaborating with Pippo Delbono on the films Guerra, winner of the David di Donatello Award, and Grido.Since 1998, he has worked as composer and performing musician for numerous productions by the Pippo Delbono Company, establishing a long-standing artistic collaboration. He composed and performed the music for productions including Guerra, Esodo, Il Silenzio and Gente di Plastica. These works have been presented internationally in Japan, Brazil, Ecuador, Israel, Palestine, Russia, Argentina, France, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands and Réunion Island.

In 2005, he co-founded ContemporArt, a cultural association based in Genoa, where he served as Vice President and Musical Director. From 2006 to 2012, he taught Jazz Piano in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the Niccolò Paganini Conservatory of Genoa, as well as at the Casa della Musica in Genoa.In 2008, he was among the founders of the Count Basie Jazz Club in Genoa, where he also served as a member of the board of directors, contributing to the promotion and development of jazz culture.

In 2012, together with actor and director Gustavo Giacosa, he founded the French theatre company SIC.12, for which he works as composer and performer of the stage music. Their collaboration has developed into an ongoing artistic research project bringing together music, contemporary theatre,
performance and visual arts.

From 2013 to 2017, he taught Jazz Piano, Harmony and Ear Training at the CRR Conservatory of Annecy and Jazz Piano and Jazz History in Chambéry, France. In 2016, he was appointed to the Chair of Jazz Piano at the Conservatory of Campobasso, Italy.His trio has also participated in a number of recording projects, including Siena Jazz 1989 with Paolo Fresu, Spiritus Mundi with Daniele Sepe, La mia Musica by Pietro Vitale and Here’s the Life by Linda Mironti.In recent years, his compositional research has increasingly focused on the relationship between written music and improvisation, through collaborations with internationally renowned musicians.
He released Il dono, featuring the acclaimed American drummer Jeff Ballard, followed by Disubbidire sempre, his latest album with clarinettist Gabriele Mirabassi, featuring original compositions by Fausto Ferraiuolo.

He is currently Full Professor of Jazz Piano and Improvisation Techniques at the “Alfredo Casella” Conservatory of Music in L’Aquila, where he combines his academic work with his ongoing artistic and compositional research.For more than three decades, Fausto Ferraiuolo’s artistic journey has brought together jazz, composition, improvisation, film and theatre, developing a distinctive musical language rooted in the dialogue between written composition, spontaneous creation and different artistic disciplines.
